Restaurant Review - R & O's Restaurant

Nestled in the lake-front of the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, the area known to the locals as "Bucktown" hosts some of the best food that the metropolitan area has to offer. When you're ready to step away from the tourist traps and see how the locals really eat,
R & O's Restaurant & Catering needs to be at the top of your list.

If the poboy is a staple of New Orleans cuisine, than R & O's easily reigns supreme by drowning it in brown gravy and roast beef - don't call it debris, the servers will look at you like you have three heads. In fact, don't expect nice, friendly, or efficient service at all, you won't get it - don't get me wrong, you'll still wait in line to be crammed next to six other tables and be glad that you did - the food is that good and everyone knows it. There is no "slow time" at R & O's, it's always packed, and with good reason. The portions are large, the price is reasonable and you'll leave more full than you thought you ever could be.

My personal recommendations are to order the fries with brown gravy for the table. You can't go wrong with their pizzas or Italian dishes, but my personal favorite is the Italian poboy, sliced Italian sausage and sliced meatballs on toasted Italian bread - dressed.

As one of my first post-COVID vaccine indoor dining experiences, I was delighted to see that R & O's has not skipped a beat and is just as eclectic and delicious as always.
